Amy Helene Kirschke, Ph.D. is the director of the School of Visual Arts in Virginia Tech's College of Architecture and Urban Studies and a professor of Art History. Dr. Kirschke has authored a number of books and articles in the field of African American political art, and has worked on exhibitions both in the United States and Europe. Her new book is on the political cartoons of Romare Bearden, a form of public art via newspapers.
