Ellington Graves

Background
Ellington Graves attended The Johns Hopkins University, graduating with a BA in sociology in 1990. He subsequently earned a master's degree in sociology from Virginia Tech and completed his doctoral studies in sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been a faculty member of the Department of Sociology at Virginia Tech since August of 2000.
He has served as director of Virginia Tech's Africana Studies Program since 2012, and currently holds the position of Associate Vice Provost for Inclusion and Diversity. In that role, he collaborates on efforts to increase faculty diversity, to enhance curriculum and research on issues of equity and inclusion, and to provide support for enhancing campus climate and student achievement.
